Job description

Ensure the effective administration and management of the examination process – both internal and external examinations.

Key Result Area / Responsibilities

1. Establishing goals and expectations

  • Ensure compliance with examination boards’ regulations and school policies for all administered exams.
  • Maintain high expectations for examination processes, including scheduling, registration, invigilation, and reporting.
  • Communicate annual examination timelines and deadlines to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and consistency.

2. Strategic resourcing

  • Liaise with academic and administrative teams to allocate resources effectively for examination preparation and execution.
  • Help maintain examination budgets and ensure cost‑effective procurement of materials and invigilation supplies.
  • Support invigilators in maintaining integrity and consistency during examination sessions.
  • Oversee the maintenance and readiness of examination venues, ensuring compliance with examination board standards.

3. Planning, Coordinating, and Evaluating Teaching and the Curriculum

  • Liaise with heads of departments to align examination schedules with the teaching calendar, minimising disruption to teaching and learning.
  • Ensure internal testing (e.g., GL CAT4, CEM Yellis/Alis) is facilitated to inform curriculum planning and teaching.
  • Ensure all examination accommodations for students with special educational needs are properly communicated and implemented.

4. Promoting and Participating in staff Learning and Development

  • Provide training sessions for teaching staff on examination procedures, policies, and updates from boards.

5. Ensuring an Orderly and Supportive Environment

  • Maintain secure and systematic storage of examination materials, ensuring confidentiality and integrity at all times.
  • Implement and enforce examination room protocols to ensure fairness and compliance with international standards.
  • Foster a supportive environment by communicating examination procedures to students and parents.
Other Responsibilities
  • Lead or contribute to special projects, initiatives, or school committees as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Represent the school in external forums and conferences on education, literacy, and library sciences.
  • Any other task, assignment or project assigned from time to time.
Minimum Academic / Professional Qualification
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
Related Experience
  • Preferably 2-3 years experience in an international school environment (or similar) and knowledge about IGCSE, GCSE, IB, and College Board examination regulations is beneficial.
  • Essential: Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work with staff, students, parents, and external examination boards.
  • Communicate confidently and professionally in English.

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children or kids for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s / Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Principal or indeed to the Safeguarding Governor so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.
