A leading energy management company in Malaysia is looking for an experienced Energy Manager to develop and implement energy management plans, conduct regular audits, and ensure compliance with upcoming regulations. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience and hold a REM Type 2 certification. Strong leadership and analytical skills are essential for fostering sustainability and driving energy efficiency improvements across operations. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders and presenting energy performance reports.
Develop and implement energy management plans for our regional properties, aiming for maximum efficiency and cost savings.
Conduct regular energy audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and potential energy-saving opportunities.
Ensure compliance with current and upcoming energy regulations, including the Malaysian Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024 (EECA 2024).
Collaborate with property managers and tenants to educate and encourage energy-conscious practices.
Monitor and analyze energy data, identifying trends and areas where energy consumption can be optimized.
Stay updated on the latest energy-efficient technologies and best practices, recommending and implementing suitable solutions.
Lead and mentor a team of energy management professionals, fostering a culture of sustainability and innovation.
Prepare and present regular reports on energy performance, highlighting achievements and areas requiring attention.
Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including energy providers and government bodies, to stay informed about industry developments.
Oversee the maintenance and operation of energy systems, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in energy management or a related field, with a proven track record of success.
REM Type 2 certification or an equivalent professional qualification in energy management.
In-depth knowledge of energy efficiency principles, practices, and regulations, especially regarding the upcoming EECA 2024.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Proficiency in energy management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

A valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the region as required.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive working experience in energy management, facilities engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Proven track record in managing large-scale commercial, industrial, or mixed-use building portfolios with high energy consumption.
Must hold a valid Registered Energy Manager (REM) Type 2 practising certificate issued by the Energy Commission (EC) of Malaysia.
Extensive, in-depth knowledge of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024 (EECA 2024) and its Regulations (e.g., requirements for Energy Consumers, Building Energy Intensity labelling, and reporting timelines).
Experience in conducting Type 2 energy audits, which includes comprehensive audits of thermal energy systems (e.g., steam, boiler, and HVAC systems).
Expertise in Thermal Energy Systems Audit and conservation strategies.
Proficiency in Energy Management Systems (EnMS), particularly ISO 50001 implementation and auditing.
Strong competency in Measurement and Verification (M&V) protocols (e.g., IPMVP) to accurately quantify energy savings from projects.
Advanced capability in analyzing data from Building Management Systems (BMS), CMMS, and utility billing systems.
Deep knowledge of building physics, HVAC design, electrical systems, and capital planning for energy infrastructure.
Leadership and Persuasion: Strong ability to influence and convince top management and diverse stakeholders to invest in energy efficiency measures.
Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills to translate complex technical reports (audit reports, EE&C reports) into clear, compelling business cases for non-technical audiences.
Analytical and Critical Thinking: Exceptional analytical skills to process large data sets, identify root causes of wastage, and develop cost-effective, data-driven improvement plans.
Project Management: Proven ability to plan, execute, monitor, and control multiple energy conservation projects simultaneously to meet deadlines and budgets.
Adaptability: The capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory and technological landscape.
