Job summary

A leading automotive financial services provider in Malaysia is seeking a candidate with at least 5 years of experience in automotive finance to manage collections and drive collection performance. The role involves liaising with external vendors, supporting litigation proceedings, and overseeing the remarketing of repossessed vehicles. Candidates should possess a relevant degree and have strong communication skills, with fluency in English and knowledge of Cantonese/Mandarin preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of working experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years in automotive finance, specializing in Collection and Recovery preferred.
  • Good knowledge of hire purchase terms and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage early delinquencies and newly activated accounts.
  • Conduct regular performance review meetings with vendors.
  • Monitor vendor performance against defined KPIs.
  • Support litigation proceedings against hirers and guarantors.
  • Liaise with auction houses for remarketing repossessed vehicles.

Here's the role at a glance that might be beneficial for you to know :

  • To manage early delinquencies, newly activated accounts
  • External Early Collections Vendor Management and to drive them to deliver the agreed KPI
  • Delivering and achieving assigned delinquency targets
  • Drive performance and manage governance of external collection agencies
  • To carry out duties tactfully and in accordance with the Company’s policy and procedures
  • Other ad hoc duties related to collection and recovery activities

Further roles and responsibilities :

  • Early Collections Vendor Steering & Relationship Management
    • Act as the primary liaison between the company and external collection agencies, ensuring transparent communication and strong working relationships
    • Conduct regular performance review meetings with vendors to align goals, address bottlenecks, and share best practices
    • Provide clear guidance, process updates, and expectations to vendors to ensure alignment with company policy and regulatory standards
  • Performance Management & KPI Monitoring
    • Monitor vendor performance against defined KPIs (e.g., recovery ratio, contact rate, PTP kept ratio, resolution time) and initiate corrective actions where targets are not met
    • Analyze weekly and monthly vendor reports, identify performance gaps, and drive improvement initiatives
    • Develop and maintain a vendor scorecard or dashboard for ongoing tracking and benchmarking
  • To conduct dunning calls to remind customers on repayments for day past due contracts. To implement and manage collections and remarketing processes and procedures in accordance with the Company’s policy and procedures.
  • Align with external vendor and discuss with customers restructuring / rescheduling of the overdue contracts.
  • Support litigation proceedings against the hirers and guarantors. Liaise with solicitors and other relevant authorities such as insurer, police, customs and Transport Authority for recovery purposes. To ensure that timely filing of legal cases thereby protecting the interest of the company.
  • To support the remarketing process for repossessed/returned vehicles.To ensure that vehicles are sold within targeted time and best price. To liaise with auction houses and co-ordination on bids from dealers, buyers and auctioneer and preparation of all relevant documents for the remarketing processes.
Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or Professional Qualification in the relevant discipline (Banking/ Accounting/Finance/Business/Economics/Law) or its related courses

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of working experience
  • Minimum 3 years in automotive finance, specializing in Collection and Recovery preferred
  • Good knowledge of Finance Contract Management ERP
  • Good knowledge of hire purchase terms and processes

Required Specific Knowledge and Capabilities

  • Good knowledge in MS Office software like Word & Excel
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Conversant in Cantonese / Mandarin and local dialects
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills (ability to interact with all levels)
