Job description

The Executive Chef oversees all culinary aspects of the Official Residence, including:

  • Planning, creation, and preparation of meals for official and unofficial events (formal/informal breakfasts, luncheons, dinners, cocktails, and receptions)
  • Purchasing products and controlling food inventory and costs
  • Equipment inventory and maintenance
  • Planning and preparing balanced diets for the Head of Mission and dependents
  • Supervision of Official Residence staff

Essential Qualifications

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language and experience.

Education
  • Accreditation from a recognized Culinary School, OR
  • An acceptable combination of education and relevant experience is considered as a total of 2 years or more working in a kitchen.

The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination. an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

  • Experience in baking breads and pastries
  • Experience in meal preparations for large events

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Experience working with a diplomatic mission
  • At least 1 year experience as Sous‑chef or Chef in a restaurant, hotel, diplomatic mission, or similar service environment
Operational Requirements
  • Basic hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
  • Ability to work overtime (weekdays/weeknights/weekends as needed)
  • Work directly with high-profile officials in diplomatic environment
  • Leave may occasionally be restricted due to operational requirements
  • Ability to lift boxes up to 20 kg
Conditions of Employment

Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.

Valid Work Authorization

Must obtain and hold valid work authorization covering entire employment period.

Security Screening

Obtain and maintain Reliability Status (security level) including criminal and credit background check.
