Engineering Manager (Metal Business Unit)
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop the Engineering function within our Metal Business Unit. This role plays a critical part in driving manufacturing excellence, new process implementation, product development, and continuous improvement initiatives to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, and Senior Management to support business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Engineering team across multiple disciplines.
- Establish and apply effective project management processes to ensure on-time and cost-effective execution.
- Recruit, train, and retain strong engineering talent while fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Implement new manufacturing processes, methods, and procedures to support expansion and efficiency improvement.
- Direct Manufacturing Engineering activities, including technical input for new business proposals, make‑vs‑buy analysis, and identifying and implementing manufacturing improvements to reduce cost, improve quality, and enhance productivity.
- Provide ongoing sustaining engineering support to production.
- Track, analyze, and report the effectiveness of current and proposed processes.
- Work cross-functionally to analyze data, identify root causes, and implement robust engineering solutions.
- Develop, manage, and control project budgets, schedules, and timelines.
- Own and manage CAPEX budgeting, including financial justification, equipment selection, procurement, and implementation.
- Lead the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, including specifications, design, validation, testing, and certification.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE).
- Manage and safeguard the Business Unit’s intellectual property portfolio.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by management from time to time.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Educational background: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Engineering Management within a manufacturing or technology environment.
- Leadership: At least 3 years of proven people leadership and team management experience.
- Preferred Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Strong project management experience with ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and engineering aptitude.
- Proven ability to build, manage, and lead high-quality engineering teams.
- Ability to manage operating expenses, labour costs, and capital budgets.
- Strong communication skills in English and Mandarin.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Willingness and ability to travel to factories, suppliers, and research locations when required.
