A leading engineering firm in Malaysia is seeking a Head of Engineering to act as the Technical Authority and lead the engineering department. This role requires a minimum of 10 years in engineering within the oil & gas industry and at least 5 years in a leadership capacity. The ideal candidate must possess strong design expertise and ensure compliance with various engineering standards. The position includes mentoring staff and developing strategic objectives to enhance overall engineering performance and quality.
Act as the company’s Technical Authority for all engineering-related matters.
Develop and enforce Lenog Engineering Standards, Procedures, and Templates, ensuring uniformity and compliance across all projects.
Ensure all engineering, inspection, and fabrication activities comply with Petronas Technical & Inspection requirements, ASME, API, ISO, and DOSH codes.
Lead technical audits and ensure zero major NCRs in client or regulator inspections.
Serve as final signatory for method statements, drawings, calculations, ITPs, QA/QC reports, WPS/PQRs, and related technical documents.
Review and approve all design deliverables including stress analysis, material selection, constructability studies but not limited to mechanical scope only, covering all relevant engineering disciplines such as civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering where applicable.
Troubleshoot live technical issues and provide engineering solutions.
Support Tendering and Sales teams in technical clarifications, equivalency checks, and compliance statements during bid preparation.
Conduct monthly Technical Review Meetings to close NCRs, update lessons learned, and improve procedures.
Lead and mentor all technical personnel under Engineering, QAQC, and Compliance.
Determine department’s goal & objectives, and annual engineering road map aligned with company annual strategy, not limited to establish KPIs and performance metrics for the department.
Devise and implement leadership optimal strategies, leading the engineering department, engaging people, providing clear strategies that ensure future readiness, including automation, AI, and other innovation.
Maintain regular contact, represent the department, and ensure good working relationships with statutory bodies such as DOSH. Ensure compliance and conformity of engineering operations to all legal requirements and regulations.
