Overview
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commodity / Material Field Strategy Sourcing Senior / Purchaser to lead strategic sourcing initiatives for mechanical commodities, including plastic components, metal stamping, and rubber parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supplier scouting, price negotiation, and contract management, with added advantage for those with plastic resin knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute commodity strategies for mechanical parts (plastics, metals, rubber) aligned with business goals
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and supply continuity
- Lead price negotiations, cost analysis, and value engineering initiatives to achieve cost savings
- Manage supplier contracts, including terms, conditions, and performance metrics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Operations) to support new product development and localization efforts
- Monitor market trends, raw material pricing (especially plastic resin), and supply chain risks
- Drive supplier relationship management and continuous improvement programs
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support RFQ/RFI processes, supplier audits, and performance reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, preferably in mechanical commodities
- Strong knowledge of plastic materials and resin types is a plus
- Proven experience in supplier scouting, negotiation, and contract management
- Familiarity with cost breakdown analysis, manufacturing processes, and global sourcing
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
