A leading global technology company in Penang is seeking an experienced Commodity / Material Field Strategy Sourcing Senior / Purchaser to lead strategic sourcing initiatives for mechanical commodities such as plastics and metals. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in supplier scouting, price negotiation, and contract management, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing.The position requires excellent communication and analytical skills, and familiarity with manufacturing processes is a plus. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, preferably in mechanical commodities.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials and resin types is a plus.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commodity / Material Field Strategy Sourcing Senior / Purchaser to lead strategic sourcing initiatives for mechanical commodities, including plastic components, metal stamping, and rubber parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supplier scouting, price negotiation, and contract management, with added advantage for those with plastic resin knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute commodity strategies for mechanical parts (plastics, metals, rubber) aligned with business goals.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and supply continuity.
  • Lead price negotiations, cost analysis, and value engineering initiatives to achieve cost savings.
  • Manage supplier contracts, including terms, conditions, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Operations) to support new product development and localization efforts.
  • Monitor market trends, raw material pricing (especially plastic resin), and supply chain risks.
  • Drive supplier relationship management and continuous improvement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support RFQ/RFI processes, supplier audits, and performance reviews.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, preferably in mechanical commodities.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials and resin types is a plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
