Job description
Overview

Electrical Professional Engineer - Nilai. Work closely with the operation Manager to review, evaluate and operate the electrical system including key areas below.

Responsibilities
  • High & Medium Voltage distribution including 132 kV & 11 kV switchgear and breakers, transformers power and distributions, protection relays, and electrical testing & commissioning (TTR, insulation resistance, Power Factor Insulation, Dissolved Gas Analysis, Dielectric Breakdown Voltage, Circuit Breaker Testing, Protective Relay Calibration).
  • Low Voltage systems including ACB, switchgear, MCC, PFIC, PDB, etc.
  • Power system and controls single-line diagram interpretation.
  • Earting and bonding.
  • PFIC system.
  • Fire detection and suppression system.
  • HT and LT motors including protections and control.
  • HV, MV and LV power and control cables.
  • Advise management on compliance with the Electricity Supply Act 447 and Electricity Regulations 1994.
  • Authorize Permit to Work for electrical projects and maintenance, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Conduct buy-off inspections for new production tools to verify regulatory compliance.
  • Perform audits of electrical installations to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on project design, testing, and commissioning.
  • Provide guidance to site Chargemen on proper maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Act as liaison between the facility owner and the Energy Commission, including submission of weekly Form I reports.
  • Provide advice and support in developing the Emergency Response Plan and Emergency Remedial and Recovery Action Plan.
  • Monitor, review, and analyze alarms; update FMEA and electrical risk assessments accordingly.
  • Coordinate with TNB and local authorities on power outages and scheduled maintenance, including attending to supply interruptions or breakdowns.
  • Ensure effective implementation of maintenance and operational programs to achieve optimal and sustainable performance.
  • Prevent equipment downtime by enforcing proper maintenance procedures, appropriate troubleshooting practices, and adequate maintenance frequency.
  • Maintain uninterrupted and incident-free operations by avoiding negligence in daily maintenance and operational tasks.
  • Ensure scheduled readings and routine maintenance for HT/LV and generator systems are performed as required.
  • Adhere to the established schedule and complete all maintenance and operational tasks on time.
  • Plan and oversee daily maintenance staffing and service operations.
  • Enhance maintenance and operational procedures to promote energy efficiency.
  • Manage power systems equipment, including distribution networks, controls, and monitoring systems.
  • Oversee SCADA and control systems for monitoring, alarm management, data trending, and reporting across all site systems.
  • Provide support and supervision during emergency situations at site locations.
Qualifications
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and is registered with BEM.
  • Must be a Professional Engineer with a valid Practising Certificate (PEPC) issued by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or a member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience working with 132 kV systems.
  • At least 10 years of site supervision experience, particularly in electrical and engineering-related projects.
  • Candidates with a background in the manufacturing industry are preferred.
  • Solid understanding of construction techniques, materials, and quality standards.
  • Proven project management abilities and strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
