Our client is one of the biggest automobile manufacturers and they're seeking a Electrical Engineer to support its growing operations in Malaysia. The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical experience, can troubleshoot complex faults, drive energy efficiency initiatives, and support engineering projects from planning to commissioning.
Job Description
- Lead the operation and preventive maintenance of the plant’s electrical assets, including 11kV substations, transformers, HV/LV distribution panels, 400V systems, UPS, inverters, and SCADA.
- Ensure maintenance programs are updated, properly implemented, and aligned with operational needs.
- Perform routine evaluations of electrical systems to detect potential safety hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Drive initiatives to enhance system optimization, energy efficiency, and electrical performance.
- Manage small-scale electrical engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications, technical standards, and national regulations.
- Review and analyze monthly energy usage to identify inefficiencies and recommend cost‑saving solutions.
- Support electrical system planning, design reviews, commissioning, and acceptance processes for new facilities and expansion works.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance in electrical servicing and maintenance activities.
- Undertake any additional duties assigned by management.
Job Requirements
Experience & Technical Competencies
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical operations and maintenance within industrial environments; experience in automotive manufacturing or large‑scale facilities is preferred.
- Strong ability to interpret electrical schematics and solid knowledge of national electrical codes and regulations.
- Proven exposure to facility construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Deep understanding of HV/LV systems, including transformers, switchgear, capacitor banks, UPS, ATS, and protection relays, with capability to assess critical risks and troubleshoot complex electrical faults independently.
- Skilled in developing advanced electrical logic programming.
- Familiar with power electronic components such as thyristors and IGBTs, including their working principles and performance characteristics.
Systems & Tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD.
- Able to establish, implement, and lead electrical O&M systems such as preventive maintenance plans, emergency response protocols, and SOPs.
- Experienced in energy data analysis and reporting, with the ability to identify operational inefficiencies and propose improvements.
Project & Compliance Knowledge
- Good understanding of local construction processes, engineering standards, technical guidelines, and legal requirements.
- Strong project management capabilities, including oversight of engineering quality and regulatory compliance.
Communication & Language
- Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across teams and build effective working relationships.
