Job Title: Engineer – Electrical IV

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (Level IV) to join our Corporate Services (CS) Facilities Operations Team in Penang. This role focuses on the operation, maintenance, and optimization of electrical systems that support advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will act as the System Owner for electrical distribution systems, ensuring operational excellence, system reliability, and compliance with global engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, sustain, and improve facilities electrical systems, ensuring reliability and compliance with safety standards.
- Serve as the Electrical System Owner, overseeing design, capacity planning, system modeling, and change tracking.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of low, medium, and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Conduct breaker coordination, arc flash studies, and load flow analyses to maintain safe operations.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers, IFM teams, and contractors on new construction, upgrades, and renovation projects.
- Review and approve electrical design drawings, specifications, submittals, and studies.
- Manage documentation and as-built drawing updates within the facilities document control system.
- Provide technical leadership during power outages and recovery operations as part of the Emergency Operations Center.
- Support the development of procedures and standards to ensure high-reliability operations of aging infrastructure.
- Participate in cross-site councils and audits to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor or large manufacturing facility environments.
- Strong knowledge of low and medium voltage systems, transformers, MCCs, UPS, generators, and substation design.
- Proficiency in electrical modeling, system analysis, and short circuit/overcurrent coordination.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, IEEE-242, UL 508A, and related standards.
- PE, Ir, or Competency Certification highly preferred.
- Experience in project coordination/management for electrical systems is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications.
