Job summary

A manufacturing company in Johor, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instruments Manager to lead a team in ensuring optimal equipment availability and safety. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting failures, and overseeing projects. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 2-3 years of relevant experience. PLC and DCS knowledge is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a manufacturing plant like chemical or oleo chemical.
  • Experience in PLC and DCS operation and maintenance is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Electrical & Instruments team for safety and optimal equipment availability.
  • Plan and carry out preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Attend unscheduled breakdowns and troubleshoot electrical failures.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of DCS/PLC, SCADA, instruments.
  • Oversee spare inventory control to manage costs.
  • Motivate and counsel team members for skill improvement.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion within time and budget.
  • Implement continuous improvement and optimization in plant.

Job description
Main Responsibilities
  • Managing the Electrical & Instruments team by providing guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the team for the purpose of achieving a safe working environment & optimal equipment technical availability whilst working with the agreed budget.
  • To plan, schedule and carry out preventive maintenance on Electrical & Instruments equipments in the plant on period basis to prevent any major breakdown.
  • To attend any unscheduled breakdown on timely basis and to investigate and troubleshoot any processing problem due electrical & instrument failure.
  • To ensure and maintain DCS/PLC, SCADA, instruments, drive, starter, motor are well maintaining.
  • Overseeing spare inventory control to ensure cost are kept at health level.
  • Responsible for motivating disciplining and counseling team members appropriately and in ensuring their job skills are constantly, being improved and develop in accordance with the establish training plan.
  • Planning, managing, and ensuring smoothing implementation and monitoring of projects assigned from inception to completion within the specific time frame, desired quality and within budgets.
  • Responsible in planning and implementing continuous improvement and optimization in plant to ensure cost-efficiency and reduce in wastage.
Requirements
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Mechatronics or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in manufacturing plant such as chemical, oleo chemical, refinery, etc.
  • Experience in PLC and DCS operation and maintenance will be an added advantage.
