A leading chemical company in Malaysia is seeking an EHS Compliance Officer to ensure environmental health and safety standards are met. Responsibilities include monitoring compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations, conducting inspections, and maintaining records. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Environmental Science or a related field, has strong analytical skills, and is proactive in managing safety operations. The role involves collaboration and guidance to staff on EHS matters, contributing to a safe workplace.
Monitor and maintain environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance across the organisation
Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994), Factories and Machinery Act 1967 (FMA), and related regulations.
Ensure compliance with Environmental Quality Act 1974, DOE (JAS) regulations, and local authority requirements.
Collaborate with the team to ensure the workplace meets all relevant safety and environmental standards
Monitor and manage scheduled waste, air emission, effluent, noise, and other environmental aspects.
Maintain environmental records and support ESG / sustainability reporting where required.
Assist in preparation reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management when necessary and prepare relevant reports and checklists as required by the Local Authority bodies such as DOSH, DOE & etc
Perform regular inspections and maintenance of the company's facilities
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to facilities management and EHS activities
Support compliance documentation and record-keeping in line with Occupational Safety and Health Act, Environmental regulations, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015.
Provide support and guidance to employees on EHS-related matters
Minimum Diploma/Degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field
Knowledge or experience in EHS, facilities, and wastewater operations is a bonus
Ability to conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and routine maintenance;
Strong attention to detail, proactive attitude, and problem-solving skills
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Certification in occupational health and safety, chemical handling, wastewater treatment is a plus; OR a willingness to obtain one.
