Job summary

A leading safety and health organization in Malaysia seeks an experienced EHS Officer. Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Implement workplace inspections to uncover unsafe acts and conditions and implement improvements to prevent workplace accidents.
  • Develop HIRARC and implement risk control actions for work activities.
  • Review work permits, issue and monitor permits, monitor vendor/contractor work and close permits.
  • Review visual controls on safety signage at the workplace and monitor employee compliance.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness such as fire fighting system, PA system, CCTV and first aid kit are in place.
  • Provide emergency response in any case of emergency and act as incident commander to normalize the situation.
  • Plan and conduct emergency drills such as fire, chemical spillage and first aid drills.
  • Ensure implementation of machine safety by performing machine buy‑off program.
  • Provide orientation training to newly joined employees and refresher training related to EHS matters such as chemical safety, hearing conservation, emergency response and etc.
  • Ensure all EHS related permits are renewed on time and work with authority officer to ensure all workplace inspections smoothly such as OSHWA, annual factory inspection and CF renewal.
  • Organize and implement safety and health committee meetings and provide consultation to employees related to safety and health matters.
  • Perform accident investigations, determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Review and ensure company forklift drivers are competent and other related matters such as automatic guided vehicle are safe for operation.
  • Assist in implementing health programs such as CHRA, CEM, LEV monitoring, audiometric testing and health surveillance.
  • Act as hearing conservation administrator to ensure compliance with Noise Exposure Regulation 2019.
  • Review chemicals imported are classified according to CLASS 2013 regulation, review SDS are maintained, and chemical labels are according to regulation.
  • Perform monthly inspections on the LEV system and ensure the LEV system is working in optimized condition.
  • Be an expert in ergonomics matters and assist in conducting ergonomics risk assessments and implement risk mitigation actions.
  • Investigate any health‑related issues related to working environment.
  • Plan and implement health promotional programs.
  • Assist to ensure management of scheduled waste in the plant are accordance to the scheduled waste regulation.
  • Assist in sample collection of wastewater final discharge and report the results of monitoring to the management and authority.
  • Promote environment conservation programs such as recycling and waste minimization program.
  • Support the company initiative in ISO 13485 and other management systems.
  • Maintain documentation for EHS related matters such as inspection record, monitoring record and training record.
  • Assist superior on any arising matter and other roles assigned from superior from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Education level: Minimum Diploma holder in Environment or Safety & Health or related field.
  • Year of experience: Minimum 2 years and above in related field.
  • Capability: Observant, able to work independently, knowledge in EHS regulation and good communicator.
  • Skills: Preparing report and presentation skills. Good problem solving skills.
