The Web Master is responsible for translating creative and business requirements into functional web experiences that align with the brand’s e-commerce strategy and marketing objectives. This includes ensuring seamless user journeys, strong visual execution, performance optimization, consistent brand storytelling across all digital touchpoints and maintaining up-to-date content. The role actively contributes to ideas, drives innovation, and ensures cross-team alignment to deliver engaging, conversion-focused web experiences.
Website & CMS Leadership
- Oversee the management and optimization of CMS websites, including system updates, security, performance tuning, and complex bug resolution.
- Ensure CMS processes align with organizational standards and scalability needs.
Advanced Web Development & Customization
- Architect, develop, and maintain custom CMS solutions with robust frontend and backend functionality.
- Lead theme and plugin customization, integration with databases, and ensure cross-browser and device compatibility. Drive technical innovation and best practices in web development.
- Regularly update website content, images, and media to keep information fresh and relevant.
SEO & Technical Strategy
- Lead keyword research, technical SEO audits, and implementation of on-page and off-page optimizations.
- Identify opportunities to improve search visibility, website performance, and overall digital presence. Provide guidance on SEO best practices across projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with designers, UX specialists, marketing teams, and business stakeholders to define web project requirements, provide technical recommendations, and ensure solutions align with brand, marketing, and e-commerce strategies.
Customer & Technical Support Oversight
- Support internal teams and end-users with complex technical issues, providing proactive solutions and guidance. Contribute to improving support processes and identifying growth opportunities through digital channels.
Quality Assurance & Knowledge Leadership
- Implement robust quality checks and review code standards to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable web solutions.
- Establish and follow best practice guidelines for web development, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure all projects meet technical, functional, and performance standards, maintaining consistency across independent web projects.
Technical Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience as a Webmaster, Front-End Developer, or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in Shopify, including theme customization using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with Google Marketing & Analytics tools (e.g. GA, GTM, Search Console).
- Solid understanding of responsive design principles and modern web development best practices.
- Strong knowledge of SEO fundamentals, site performance optimization, and web analytics.
- Good understanding of UI/UX principles and front-end frameworks.
- Competency in data analysis and reporting using Excel and Google Sheets.
- Ability to clearly articulate and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Additional / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with other e-commerce platforms (e.g. WooCommerce, Magento or others).
- Knowledge of photo and graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
- Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including paid media, email marketing, and conversion optimization.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Multimedia, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in front‑end development (e-commerce experience preferred).
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience with Shopify, including themes, Liquid templates, sections, metafields, and store configurations.
