Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a senior drafting engineer to prepare and update P&ID, GA and Isometric drawings for maintenance and modification projects. You will reproduce accurate As-Built records reflecting field changes and generate detailed sketches for rectifications and weld specifications.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on drafting experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software, with 3+ years in Oil & Gas.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related drafting discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on drafting and design using AutoCAD or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in Oil & Gas (onshore/offshore, refineries, petrochemical plants).
• Ability to read and draft P&ID, GA and Isometric drawings.
• Knowledge of welding symbols, material specs and piping design principles.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and finalize mark-up drawings for maintenance or modification including P&IDs, GA and isometrics.
• Re-produce and maintain accurate As-Built drawings reflecting post-modification changes.
• Generate technical sketches and drawings for rectifications, repairs and weld specs.
• Perform Material Take-Offs (MTO) and BOM for procurement and cost estimation.
• Assist field engineers with surveys, verifications, and site mark-up cross‑checks.
• Ensure drafts comply with client specs, ASME/API standards and QA/QC guidelines.
• Maintain drafting document control with revision tracking and archiving.
• Coordinate with project engineers, maintenance crews, and site personnel to resolve queries.

Prepare, review, and finalize mark-up drawings and sketches for equipment scheduled for maintenance or modification, specifically focusing on Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and Piping Isometric drawings.

Re-produce, update, and maintain precise As-Built drawings to reflect post-modification and field execution changes accurately.

Generate technical sketches and detailed drawings for proposed rectifications, structural/piping repairs, weld design specifications, and identification of component replacement areas.

Perform accurate Material Take-Offs (MTO) and Bill of Materials (BOM) based on approved technical drawings for procurement and cost estimation purposes.

Assist engineers in field surveys, dimensional verifications, and cross-referencing site mark‑ups against existing plant design records.

Ensure all drafts adhere strictly to client specifications, international design standards (e.g., ASME, API), and internal Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) guidelines.

Manage drafting document control, maintaining systematic revision tracking and organized archiving for all project engineering deliverables.

Coordinate with project engineers, maintenance crews, and site personnel to clarify drawing queries and ensure seamless field execution.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Possess a recognized Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Drafting, Drafting Technology, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

Overall Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands‑on technical drafting and design experience utilizing Autodesk AutoCAD or similar CAD software.

Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years of direct experience within the Oil & Gas sector (Onshore/Offshore, Refineries, or Petrochemical plants).

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D); familiarity with Plant 3D or MicroStation is an added advantage.

Demonstrated capability in reading, interpreting, and drafting P&ID, GA, and Isometric drawings.

Solid understanding of welding symbols, material specs, structural rectifications, and piping design principles.

Proven experience in executing Material Take-Offs (MTO).
