A forestry certification organization based in Kuala Lumpur seeks a qualified candidate for managing the Forest Management Unit. Responsibilities include leading sustainability practices, engaging with international stakeholders, and maintaining certification standards. Ideal candidates should possess a Bachelor's in Forestry or relevant qualifications, along with knowledge of sustainable forest management. The deadline for applications is December 8, 2025.
Minimum Bachelor in Forestry or other related areas such as Natural Resources Management, Ecology and Conservation, Environmental Sciences or Biological Sciences OR Candidates with Public Policy / Law Degree with Experiences in Forest Management, Certification and Standards Management.
Candidates with sound knowledge of sustainable forest management will be prioritised.
Responsibilities:
Leading, supervising and managing the Forest Management Unit.
Maintaining relationships with domestic and international clients, partners and other stakeholders such as the certificate holders, NGOs and others.
Lead discussions with PEFC on matters related to Forest Management Benchmark standard.
Developing goals and initiatives to constantly improve the Forest Management Certification.
Leads the review of standard(s) and technical documents to ensure agreed standards align with the requirements of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Scheme (PEFC).
Monitor and evaluate the operation of sustainable forest management (SFM) certification to ensure the effective implementation of MTCS.
Engage stakeholders and technical experts in developing guideline(s) and appendices related to the standard(s) under the MTCS.
Coordinate with the accreditation body on the requirements for Certification Bodies (CBs) operating FMC under the MTCS including overseeing the collection of notification fees.
Support international agencies / other government agencies by providing inputs, feedback, briefings, and training regarding the sustainability agenda of MTCC.
