Role Purpose
Accountable for the end-to-end operational delivery, availability, integrity, and timeliness of enterprise data across enterprise data platforms and their upstream and downstream ecosystems.
This role ensures that data pipelines, platforms, and operational processes function with bank-grade reliability, auditability, and service discipline, supporting regulatory reporting, business intelligence, analytics, and downstream operational systems, while progressively evolving toward cloud-native and modern data architectures.
Key Responsibilities
1. BAU Operations Leadership
- Lead and manage BAU operations teams responsible for daily, weekly, and month-end data processing.
- Design and manage shift rosters, handovers, on-call coverage, and workload distribution.
- Enforce disciplined execution of run books, SOPs, and control checklists.
- Validate recovery approaches during incidents.
2. Data Availability & Platform Monitoring
- Ensure high availability, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of data.
- Proactively monitor ETL pipelines and data platforms.
- Maintain operational surveillance of system health and performance.
3. Incident, Recovery & Root Cause Management
- Lead incident triage and recovery.
- Own root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain incident and RCA repositories.
4. SLA & Service Delivery Management
- Own upstream and downstream SLAs.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly SLA reporting.
- Ensure delivery against business and regulatory timelines.
5. Cross-Team & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with functional, development, platform, infrastructure, and vendor teams.
6. Change, Audit & Compliance Support
- Support change management.
- Engage auditors and compliance teams with evidence and controls.
7. Team Management & Capability Development
- Manage performance, capacity, and utilisation.
- Coach and mentor team members.
8. Operational Excellence & Automation
- Drive automation and standardisation.
- Develop operations workbooks, run books, and manuals.
Key Systems & Platforms
- Teradata, Informatica, Hadoop / CDP, Enterprise Data Platforms, Cloud Data Platforms (AWS/Azure – desirable)
Required Experience & Skills Experience
- 10–12+ years in enterprise data operations or data engineering.
- 3–5 years in a team lead role.
- Experience in regulated environments.
Technical & Forward‑Looking Skills
- Strong knowledge of enterprise data platforms and ETL.
- Exposure to cloud data platforms and migration programs.
- Understanding of modern data architecture, automation, and DevOps concepts.
