Provide leadership of the faculty/centre and its management team in relation to teaching, development of professional practice, research and other academic and support activities

Give strong leadership to faculty staff, promoting a culture of service excellence, managing resources effectively and driving change where necessary in order to build and promote the impact and reputation of the faculty and the university.

Represent the interests and resources of the faculty/centre in a variety of university contexts (e.g. enrolment management, budget, risk management, student experiences, etc.) with students, and, as appropriate, parents.

Stimulate a working environment within the faculty/centre that is supportive of staff and encourages active engagement and a positive contribution from individual members of staff

Prepare staff for future key leadership role and support service contribution and engagement activities of academic staff

Develop a vision with adequate long term strategies and short term action plans for the faculty/centre that reflects, supports and amplifies the university’s mission

Lead the development of the faculty/centre through effective strategy and action planning, forecasting and budgeting and the implementation of strategies/action plans to promote excellence in all aspects of the faculty’s/centre’s operations

Cultivate strong internal/external networks and strategic alliances and promote the visibility and reputation of the university and the faculty/centre, nationally and internationally

Experiences Management

Safeguard the integrity and quality of academic programmes of the faculty/centre by upholding professional and accreditation standards and conducting curriculum and programme review when appropriate/needed

Promote development of curricula that fosters academic excellence and quality learning experiences for students with emphases on the use of innovative teaching and learning strategies and incorporation of appropriate blended learning technologies, as well as a commitment to internationalization

Ensure the development and implementation of innovative and creative strategies to enhance the student experiences and initiatives to broaden the academic appeal and footprint of the faculty

Oversee the recruitment, admission, registration, and induction of students and the declaration of results and award of academic qualifications (i.e. degree and/or diploma)

Resources Management

Manage the faculty/centre and be accountable for the effective and prudent allocation of financial and human resources within the faculty/centre and to ensure the faculty/centre operates within policies, guidelines, strategic plans, and its budgets

Advocate effectively for the needs of the faculty/centre yet be able to realign faculty/centre interests to the broader university interests when appropriate

Collaborate with stakeholders concerned and staff of faculty/centre to determine funding needs/priorities and to prepare the faculty/centre budge

Manage the progress and achievement of faculty’s/centre’s enrolment, progression and attrition targets and assume responsibility for the development and implementation of action plans to achieve these target.

Performance Management

Ensure a strong and high performing faculty/centre management team, who will individually and collectively take responsibility for ensuring a working environment which promotes academic, professional and personal staff development in a manner that is consistent with the faculty/centre and the university’ objectives.

Supervise staff , including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff members are trained; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations
