A data analytics firm in Malaysia is seeking a Database Developer to design, implement, and manage databases while ensuring data integrity and compliance. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and at least 3 years of experience in database development. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL is essential, along with strong analytical and communication skills. Fluency in both Bahasa Malaysia and English is required, and travel across Southeast Asia and India is expected.
Design, implement, and maintain relational and non-relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
Perform database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and patch management.
Develop and optimize ETL workflows and data integration pipelines to support analytics and reporting such as Bi and Intelligence Solutions - Tableau Data Prep, Azure Synapse, Analyst Notebook etc
Manage data storage and retrieval processes across on-premises and cloud environments.
Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance through proper access control, auditing, and monitoring.
Implement and maintain Data Visualization, Social link/Intelligence tools for ETL and reporting such as (Strategy One/ Analyst Notebook/ OSINT/Tableau, Spotfire/IBM Cognos/Power BI)
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues; optimize queries, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
Support data warehouse and big data environments (Hadoop, Hive, HDFS) as needed.
Participate in system integration projects, ensuring smooth data flow and interoperability across platforms.
Assist in tender preparation and proposal development, ensuring solutions align with client requirements and organizational capabilities.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related IT field, or equivalent professional certification.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in database development, administration, or data engineering.
Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and stored procedure development.
Experience in database performance tuning, replication, and high availability configurations.
Working knowledge of Windows/Linux OS, network fundamentals, and data security principles is added advantages
Experience with data integration frameworks (Kafka, REST APIs, ETL tools) is an advantage.
Exposure to cloud database platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is an advantage.
Good understanding of data modelling, schema design, and data lifecycle management.
Experience in tender documentation, pre-sales support, and business proposal writing is preferred.
Excellent presentation and communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Able to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English (both written and spoken).
Willing to travel across Malaysian states, Southeast Asia, and India as required.
