Job description

The Data Scientist discovers and curates new and existing data sources to create insights for the business. The candidate should be intellectually curious, innovative thinkers, and have demonstrated ability to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze raw data: assessing quality, cleansing, structuring for downstream processing
• Generate actionable insights for business improvements
• Acquire deep understanding of the business problems and translate them into appropriate business solutions.
• Develop data science solution, including algorithms and statistical predictive models to identify business challenges and opportunities.
• Collaborate internally and externally to identify new and novel data sources and explore their potential use in developing practical business result.
• Work with business partners using a collaborative, agile approach to identify possible business opportunities and devise the appropriate modeling approach or framework.
• Develop mathematical, analytical, optimization and artificial intelligence or machine learning models to support evidence-based decision making. Ensure overall quality of data and solutions throughout the analytic development process.
• Examine, interpret, and report analytical results in both written reports and in oral presentation to varied audiences and communicate analytics, model-based recommendations, and insights in a convincing matter.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or any related field of study or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
• At least 4 years of modeling working experience in a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or work equivalence.
• At least 4 years hands‑on experience in any statistical, econometric, engineering analysis or modeling, large scale optimizations, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining and processing.
• Proficient in some of the commonly used programming languages and software packages, such as Python, R, Spark, MATLAB, Scala, Java etc. and/or data-warehouse & visualization tools such as Snowflake, QlikView, Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau, WebFOCUS.
• Results oriented with a growth mindset and strong dedication and able to multi-task.
• Excellent oral and written English and Mandarin communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-pace, innovative environment where problems are not always well defined.
