BHP is offering a Data Science Internship in Kuala Lumpur to apply data science techniques to real‑world business challenges. The intern will assist with data sourcing, validation, testing, and building predictive models while ensuring data quality.

You will analyze data and translate findings into actionable recommendations. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a hybrid, full‑time role, gain mentorship, and learn to present insights with reports and visualizations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Data Science or related field.
• Availability for full-time (five days a week – Hybrid).
• Proficient in English (written and spoken).
• Familiarity with Python or SQL.
• Exposure to data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Strong computer literacy (MS Office/Outlook/Teams).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).
• Ability to design, refine, and apply AI prompts.
• Basic knowledge of data analysis and visualization concepts.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts and basic algorithms.
• Awareness of generative AI capabilities for business.
• Team collaboration across functions.
• Experience with data cleaning/validation in academic/projects.
• Strong time management and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Support data sourcing and validation to ensure accuracy and integrity of datasets.
• Assist in data preparation and testing for predictive models and simulations.
• Apply data mining and analysis to identify patterns and insights.
• Contribute to model development and algorithm testing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into data‑driven solutions.
• Prepare simple reports and visualizations communicating findings clearly.
