Lead shift operations and maintenance work in a data center facility to ensure 100% facility uptime, performing shift duty as required.
Execute hands‑on operations and inspection work on a variety of critical facility systems and equipment in a high‑availability environment.
Protect and improve the value of assets, ensuring critical engineering systems reliably perform their intended functions. Conduct equipment and system functional inspection and troubleshooting before calling vendor or equipment specialist on site.
Inspect and verify that maintenance vendor or OEM vendor has completed work, following the maintenance work method statement without deviation and signing off each work step. If abnormalities occur, halt work, alert the monitoring centre, and seek clearance from the Lead Engineer before proceeding.
Lead or directly operate and monitor critical system equipment and components. Oversee the Change Control Application Process, including third‑party contractors, to ensure safe and compliant operation, maintenance (corrective and preventive), and modification of critical equipment. Disable and enable fire alarm control panels and systems.
Support implementation of the preventative maintenance program on the assigned shift: schedule preventative maintenance with minimal disruption to building services, perform or supervise tasks, order parts and equipment needed for repair, maintenance, and installation, and maintain inventory.
Operate the monitoring centre – the nerve centre of the data centre – rotating with other shift engineers to ensure the building management system is constantly monitored, handling incident management (escalation, reporting, investigation, root‑cause analysis, remediation/rectification, incident closure), and work‑order management. Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns.
Deliver all tasks in accordance with the customer’s service level agreement, ensuring 100% compliance to the SLA.
Perform all work safely in accordance with the governing Safety Program. Comply with company policy and local law for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
Update tools and supply inventories as appropriate: prepare and submit purchase‑order requests, source stock materials, and perform periodic checks for supplies.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines related to the operation of building infrastructure and work deliveries. Report any discrepancies to the reporting manager or senior management.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Company from time to time.
Proficient in English across all communication mediums; able to write and review detailed work scripts, methods of procedure, and standard operating procedures. Prepare incident reports.
Good knowledge of all laws governing building management and maintenance, including building safety, emergency evacuation, and environmental protection.
Professional Engineering Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a Data Centre environment or Hi‑tech factory/plant (e.g., semiconductor).
A valid Electrical Switching Certificate and/or license (Chargeman) for LV/HT electrical systems is preferred.
Hands‑on technical knowledge and experience with critical data centre systems, including HVAC, standby emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, and associated infrastructure.
Proficiency in computer applications and software, including commercial CMMS, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
