A leading staffing agency in Malaysia is seeking a COO/GM for high volume F&B contract catering. The successful candidate will oversee operational leadership and execution, manage supply chain logistics, and ensure compliance with various regulations. Candidates should have 10-15 years of experience in F&B or hospitality, with strong leadership and client relationship skills. An MBA is preferred. The position is based in Selangor and offers a competitive package with opportunities for professional growth.
1. Operational Leadership & Contract Execution
Oversee all operational aspects of large-scale F&B contract execution, ensuring strict adherence to contractual terms, quality standards, & service level agreements (SLAs) for Government, Military, and Commercial Business clients.
Streamline & optimize kitchen operations, food preparation processes, serving methodologies, & meal delivery schedules to ensure high quality and efficiency.
Implement robust quality assurance & control programs, especially concerning food safety, hygiene, & compliance with local health regulations (HALAL / Local Government Requirements, Military Operating Standards)
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery & cost-effectiveness.
Full accountability of the company's Profit & Loss (P&L) results for all operational activities.
Develop, manage, & monitor operating budgets and forecasts.
Identify opportunities for cost optimization & revenue generation.
Implement financial controls & reporting mechanisms to track key performance indicators (KPIs) & drive accountability across operational units.
Approve expenditures & resource allocation within budget guidelines.
3. Supply Chain, Logistics, & Inventory Management
Directly manage & optimize the end-to-end supply chain from procurement to consumption.
Oversee warehousing operations, ensuring efficient storage, proper stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), & minimizing spoilage/waste.
Develop & manage logistics plans for timely & reliable delivery of raw materials & prepared meals to multiple, often remote or regulated, contract sites.
Implement effective inventory management software & procedures to maintain accurate stock levels, manage par stock, & reconcile physical inventory with system records.
4. Compliance & Audit Parameters
Ensure the company adheres to all Government and Military contract regulations, health standards, & Basic Malaysian Labour Laws (e.g., Employment Act 1955, min wage regulations).
Coordinate & lead internal and external audits (financial, operational, and food safety/HALAL), implementing corrective actions promptly.
Oversee a robust Repair and Maintenance (R&M) program for all operational assets, including kitchen equipment, vehicles, & facilities, ensuring minimal operational downtime & compliance with safety standards.
Establish preventative maintenance schedules & manage R&M budgets effectively.
6. Client & Stakeholder Relations
Act as the primary operational liaison with high-level contacts from Government, Military, & major Private clients.
Build & maintain strong, collaborative client relationships to ensure contract retention & identify opportunities for service expansion.
Address & resolve complex operational issues or client escalations efficiently & professionally.
Must be proficient or quickly become proficient in utilizing basic operating software relevant to the F&B industry, including:
Inventory Management Systems (IMS)
Point-of-Sale (POS) & catering management software.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for financial reporting & planning.
Lead the selection, implementation, & integration of new technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Education
Degree in Business Admin, Operations Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field. An MBA is highly preferred.
Experience
Min 10-15 years of progressive experience in F&B or hospitality operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (VP of Operations, Director of Operations). Direct experience with large-scale contract feeding, military/government contracts, or institutional catering is an advantage.
Knowledge
Mandatory: Deep knowledge of P&L management, operational budgeting, supply chain logistics, & inventory management. Strong understanding of Msian Labour Law essentials, audit processes, and F&B Repair & Maintenance (R&M) requirements.
Skills
Proven ability to lead & mentor large, diverse teams. Exceptional client relation & negotiation skills. High proficiency in basic operating software & Microsoft Office Suite.
