Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire construction process, from project initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
- Develop and implement project schedules, resource plans, and budgets, considering factors such as manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with consultants, engineers, and stakeholders to review project plans, designs and specifications, providing input on constructability, feasibility, and potential issues.
- Coordinate and lead project meetings, including pre‑construction, progress and coordination meetings, to ensure effective communication and collaboration among project team members.
- Monitor and track project progress, costs and timelines, and implement corrective actions as needed to keep projects on track.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with construction plans, safety regulations and quality standards.
- Manage and resolve construction issues, conflicts and changes, and ensure proper documentation and communication of such matters to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, permits and inspections.
- Foster a culture of safety on construction sites, promoting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, including contractors and subcontractors, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify and implement process improvements, cost‑saving measures and value engineering opportunities.
- Be accountable for quality, safety, health and environmental management and performance at the workplace and project site.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of direct experience managing construction projects.
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and stakeholders effectively.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, focused on delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Able to prioritise and work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- High level of integrity and results orientation.
