About the role

We are seeking a talented Commis Chef to join our premium Yakiniku Japanese restaurant in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. As a Commis Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in preparing and cooking exceptional Japanese cuisine to delight our discerning customers. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and a range of benefits.

What you'll be doing
  • Assist the Head Chef in preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of Japanese dishes
  • Ensure all ingredients are prepared to the highest standards and in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team to deliver exceptional customer service
  • Comply with all food hygiene and safety standards
  • Participate in menu development and testing of new dishes
What we're looking for
  • At least 1-2 years of experience as a Commis Chef in a high-quality restaurant, preferably with exposure to Japanese cuisine
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent knife skills and attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Passion for creating delicious, visually appealing Japanese dishes
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
