Job summary

A leading manufacturer of animal feed in Sabah is seeking a Clerk of Works for a temporary on-site role in Kota Kinabalu. The role involves overseeing construction work to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards. Candidates should have a Certificate/Diploma in Civil & Structural, a minimum of 5 years of experience in building construction, and be registered with BEM as Inspector of Works. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD is also essential. This contract-based position lasts approximately 4 months.

Role Description

This is a temporary on-site role as a Clerk of Works located in Kota Kinabalu. As a Clerk of Works, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring that all construction work complies with the project’s design, specifications, and quality standards.

Qualifications
  • Inspect workmanship, quality, and safety of work at construction sites, and report findings to the client.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure construction plans are followed correctly.
  • Check and verify that all works comply with the architect’s and engineer’s drawings, as well as approved specifications.
  • Represent the consultant in attending relevant authority and client site visits, inspections, testing, and meetings.
  • Liaise and coordinate with contractors on all site matters.
  • Prepare progress reports of all building works on a monthly basis, or as requested by the immediate superior.
  • Ensure contractors / sub-contractors submit method statements, materials, shop drawings, and obtain all necessary approvals before commencement of works.
  • Monitor work progress and issue letters to contractors / sub-contractors regarding any delays or quality issues.
  • Record all inspection forms, reports, and site documentation.
Requirements
  • Minimum Qualification: Certificate / Diploma in Civil & Structural.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years.
  • Competency: Registered with BEM as Inspector of Works (IOW).
  • Knowledge: Civil, Structural, and Infrastructure works.
  • Abilities: Able to work independently.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office / Excel, AutoCAD.
  • Languages: Malay, English, Chinese (optional).
  • Employment Type: Contract-based.
  • Duration: Approximately 4 months (subject to extension depending on project schedule).
Knowledge & Experience Required
  • Experience in building construction.
  • Sound knowledge of infrastructural and structural works.
