Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a Chief Risk Officer to lead the enterprise risk function, aligning risk profile with strategic objectives and regulatory expectations. You will drive risk strategy, governance, and reporting to executive leadership and the Board.

The ideal candidate has substantial experience across risk disciplines, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven leadership to develop high-performing teams and embed a robust risk culture throughout the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Risk Management, with significant leadership experience overseeing enterprise-wide risk functions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple risk disciplines, including operational, market, liquidity, enterprise risk and governance.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and corporate governance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall enterprise risk management framework across the organisation.
  • Develop and execute the organisation’s risk strategy, policies and governance framework.
  • Provide independent oversight across key risk disciplines and governance forums.
  • Oversee stress testing, scenario analysis and capital/risk planning.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to internal policies.
  • Present risk reports and recommendations to executive management and boards.
  • Partner with business leaders to balance commercial objectives with prudent risk management.
  • Foster a risk-aware culture through guidance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Risk Management team.
  • Act as liaison with regulators and external auditors on risk-related matters.

Job description

Chief Risk Officer

Reporting directly to senior leadership and working closely with the Board and key stakeholders, this role will be responsible for establishing a strong risk culture while ensuring the organisation’s risk profile aligns with its strategic objectives and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall enterprise risk management framework, including the identification, assessment, monitoring and mitigation of key risks across the organisation.
  • Develop and execute the organisation’s risk strategy, policies and governance framework.
  • Provide independent oversight across key risk disciplines, including operational, market, liquidity, credit and strategic risk, where applicable.
  • Oversee stress testing, scenario analysis and capital/risk planning to support business resilience and strategic decision‑making.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies and industry best practices.
  • Present risk reports, emerging risk trends and recommendations to Executive Management, Board Committees and other governance forums.
  • Partner with business leaders to balance commercial objectives with prudent risk management practices.
  • Foster a strong risk‑aware culture across the organisation through guidance, training and stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Risk Management team while driving continuous improvement across the function.
  • Act as the key liaison with regulators, external auditors and relevant stakeholders on risk‑related matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Risk Management or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, CA, CPA or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Risk Management, with significant leadership experience overseeing enterprise‑wide risk functions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple risk disciplines, including operational risk, market risk, liquidity risk, enterprise risk, stress testing and governance.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, corporate governance and risk management best practices.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with senior management, Board members and external stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, stakeholder management and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
