A leading multinational consulting firm is seeking an experienced contract manager in Sarawak, Malaysia. This role involves managing civil contracts, overseeing claims and disputes, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Candidates should have a Master’s degree and 15 years of experience in construction contract management, with strong English proficiency. Be responsible for managing contracts in areas such as payments, variations, insurance, claims, disputes, etc.;
Report to the TL;
Manage civil contracts under the contract scheme of ADB;
Manage railway systems, rolling stock, and depot equipment contracts under the contract scheme of ADB/other development partners;
Assist the TL in reviewing, examining, receiving, and evaluating all submittals related to contractual requirements during the Contractor(s)’ mobilization period;
Examine Contractor(s)’ claims and disputes during the implementation and take-over period;
Review Contractor(s)’ proposals for Value Engineering, Variations, Claims, and determine Adjustments for Changes of Cost, according to the contract documents;
Monitor Contractor(s)' compliance with insurance, bond obligations, labor, and tax laws, and report breaches to the client; assist the employer in bidding for packages where the Engineering Design Consultant's assistance is unavailable.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in engineering, construction, law, dispute resolution, international arbitration, or contract management;
Professional qualification as a construction contract manager (e.g., FIDIC certified contract manager);
Proficiency in English;
15 years of professional experience in construction contract management, including 10 years as lead or senior contract and claims manager on international infrastructure projects (preferably FIDIC Red and Yellow Book), and 2 years of experience outside the candidate's home country;
Experience working on large-scale metro/railway systems or infrastructure projects;
Experience with projects financed by multilateral development banks.
