We are currently seeking an exceptional professional to join us as Chemicals Buyer

Chemicals Buyer – as a Chemicals Buyer you will manage the day‑to‑day contractual relationship with vendors and customers to build long‑term sourcing relationships. You will ensure we understand and adhere to the customer, contractual, legislative, and quality requirements and that these are matched throughout the sourcing process.

You will operate efficient working practices for the sourcing of ad‑hoc customer requirements at the best commercial terms in order to meet delivery and commercial timescales and targets.

Responsibilities
  • To contact suppliers to obtain competitive price, determine availability, terms, and delivery schedule regarding specific requisitions; evaluate quotes from various sources and recommend awards.
  • Develop and prepare purchase orders, and process all paperwork related to purchases including purchase order revisions, under the guidance of Supply Chain Manager and more experienced Buyer.
  • Review incoming requisitions for accuracy and completeness; resolve any problems on the requisitions with the appropriate department.
  • Administer and review purchase orders and bids; verify receipt; resolve discrepancies and problems regarding prices, delivery, and/or quality.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier compliance with contract cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Monitor and follow up the deliveries for overall open PO and communicate with requestor on order status to ensure meeting on time delivery.
  • Work with Suppliers and Freight Forwarder to ensure smooth supply chain process.
  • Develop and prepare daily weekly and monthly reports and present to the superior or customer on a timely way.
  • Ensure the chemical importing to the related country was precheck with country trade compliance and any restriction on importation and allowed quantities are stored within the license at all times.
  • Able to engage handle the adhoc task that assign by line Manager and being back up person for internal department.
About You
  • 2 to 3 years of experience working in purchasing department
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
  • Chemical knowledge is highly advantageous. Knowledge of import/export regulations is also desirable.
  • Positive attitude and ability to function as a team player
  • Ability to prioritize own tasks
  • Good Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with emphasis in Quality and Customer Service
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Malay or Chinese is an advantage
