Job summary

Keywords Studios Asia is seeking a skilled Character Artist with AAA game experience to join a dynamic APAC team, working from Malaysia or Indonesia with remote/hybrid options. You will create realtime 3D assets and collaborate closely with leads to hit visual targets for a high-profile project.

The role may be offered as permanent or fixed-term, depending on project needs and candidate level. Working rights for Malaysia/Indonesia required; sponsorship relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Character Artist on shipped AAA or high-quality projects.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating character art fundamentals.
• Good anatomical and proportions knowledge.
• Proficiency with modern game engines (Unreal, Unity or proprietary engines).
• Able to work collaboratively and iterate quickly based on feedback.

Responsibilities

• Create realtime 3D Character, Vehicle and Environment assets.
• Collaborate with Lead Artist to meet visual targets.
• Work within the engine to preview, iterate, optimize and polish assets.
• Participate in technical and aesthetic problem-solving discussions.
• Review assets from outsource teams and provide feedback.
• Guide outsourcing vendors when required.
• Maintain consistent quality and schedule.
• Assist production with task breakdown and prioritization.
• Track progress and identify areas needing help.

Keywords Studios Asia is currently looking to expand its team. We're seeking Character Artists with AAA game development experience. These opportunities are located in either Malaysia, or Indonesia (Remote).

Keywords Studios is a global leader providing art services to AAA Publishers. Our work can be seen across many of the top selling titles on console and PC. We've secured an exciting AAA IP project and anticipating further project announcements early in 2026. You'll get to work alongside seasoned developers bringing expertise from world class AAA studios.

At Keywords Studios we are looking for an accomplished, enthusiastic and self-motivated Character Artist to join our team working on an exciting, new and unannounced project.

This position may be offered as either a permanent or fixed-term contract role, depending on the project's requirements, business needs, and the candidate's experience and level.

Only those with relevant working rights for Malaysia, and Indonesia will be considered. Sponsorship and relocation is not being offered as part of this package.

What you will do:

• Creation of realtime 3D Character, Vehicle and Environment assets
• Work closely with the Lead Artist to ensure the visual target is met or exceeded
• Work within the engine to preview, iterate, optimize and polish assets to a quality bar and visual direction agreed with stakeholders, while respecting the technical requirements
• Actively participate in technical and aesthetic problem-solving discussions
• Review assets produced by outsource teams and provide technical and aesthetic feedback
• Provide guidance and assistance whenever required to outsourcing vendors
• Maintain a consistent quality of work while staying on schedule
• Help the production team with tasks breakdown, prioritization and assignment among the art team
• Maintain visibility of progress and where areas of production need assistance

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Character Artist on a shipped AAA or high-quality game project
• Strong portfolio demonstrating Character art fundamentals
• Good anatomical and proportions knowledge
• Organic and hard surface modelling
• Able to work from concepts
• Proficiency with modern game engines (Unreal, Unity or proprietary engines)
• Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and iterate quickly based on feedback
