Our client is a top consumer goods group of companies with offices and branches throughout Malaysia. They are looking for a Head of Logistics, reporting to Group CEO. This person will be accountable for leading and building the organization logistics as a business through effective planning and management of the business strategy, market positioning, logistic operations and people management to ensure the organization viability and financial sustainability of the business.
Key Accountabilities
- Accountable for the development of business direction and operating set-up.
- Define organisational purpose, values, principles, vision, and mission.
- Establish an organisational structure to support organisation’s short-term and long-term objectives.
- Develop a 5-year strategy plan that focuses on business growth and expansion beyond GTM, including diversification of revenue stream and service offerings.
- Responsible to lead and build a high-performing workforce/team.
- Create a high-performance work culture/environment through HPWO implementation (enabling, empowering, enriching).
- Implement initiatives for improving and monitoring employee engagement levels.
- Develop a talent pool at ground operations and devise retention strategies.
- Accountable for the management of financial and resource allocation.
- Identify and implement strategies to better manage financial position.
- Analyse financial performance and identify areas for cost optimisation and better budget allocation.
- Ensure updated budget plans, profitability and losses statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements to make objective and sound business decisions.
- Responsible to develop and implement strategies to optimise market penetration in the logistics and supply chain industry.
- Explore opportunities to provide logistics services to the organization and its subsidiaries.
- Identify potential areas to diversify services, such as freight forwarding, warehouse, consulting, and more.
- Provision of advice and guidance on the best practices on logistics and supply chain policies development or regulatory monitoring.
- Support the organization and its subsidiaries in distribution and delivery activities.
- Responsible to build and maintain excellent relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuous engagement with existing stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
- Conduct networking activities, forums, proactive solutions activation and sharing sessions with stakeholders.
- Collaborate and gather feedback/input from stakeholders in analyzing and evaluating current business models.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related disciplines.
- MBA or Master’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant working experience with 4 to 5 years of managerial experience.
- Excellent written and oral command of Bahasa Malaysia and English (other additional languages would be an added advantage).
- Experience and proven track record in the logistics and supply chain industry, particularly third-party logistics (3PL), is an added advantage.
- Experience in the logistics and supply chain operations, such as transportation, warehousing, distribution, and more, is an added advantage.
- Broad based skillset with strong financial and business acumen.
- Performance management – Experience in managing full P&L and business units with proven success in improving business.
- Strategic thinking – Experience in formulating annual budget and strategic plan as well as monitoring with appropriate KPI.
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
