A retail company in Subang Jaya is seeking a Category Manager/Merchandiser to develop and implement sales action plans aimed at achieving sales and margin targets. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in merchandising and will work closely with suppliers and inter-departmental teams to enhance sales performance. Responsibilities include managing product assortments and optimizing stock allocation in alignment with market trends and customer needs.
To develop yearly purchase and sales action plans within assigned category with objective to achieve or exceed turnover / margin targets.
To achieve sales and margin objectives through investigating, making changes to current assortments for choices, price points aligned with customer’s needs, market trends, supplier trends and merchandise strategy, to be in line with “1 in, 1 out” principle and choose between local purchase and direct global sourcing; ensure optimal marketing mix management (product, price, location, timing).
Define detailed product assortments; review and update implantation rules and space allocation within category to reflect new assortments and priorities.
To develop and ensure the communication towards store execution of defined promotion plan(s) within own category, decide and make stock allocation of products for stores in scheduled promotion campaign whenever availability of a product at good price.
To develop and propose new business concepts with objective to differentiate from competitors, to create the “new or refreshing” experience for customers, and to enhance department sales performance.
To monitor stock aging performance and stock delivery within category; ensure optimal delivery lead time and take corrective measures as and when necessary.
To develop, search and manage existing and new suppliers’ portfolio with good relations; negotiate for permanent and promotional buying terms and renew yearly Aeon Big trading agreement contracts per conditions (rebated, listing fee, fixed guarantee, etc) set out.
To maintain a good working relation within the division, inter‑department, cross‑functional team and store team with objective to foster respect, solidarity and co‑operative communication (involving, checking and responding promptly to the feedback and issues raised by the head office and store operation team) and animate the communication within inter‑departments and inter‑stores.
To monitor, review and confirm on customers profile, suppliers’ market, competition practices and market trends through conduct of market and competitor stores visit.
