What role you will play in our team
  • You will be an integral part of our engineering team providing technical insights and support to ExxonMobil’s manufacturing facilities globally, encompassing refineries and chemical plants.
  • Placements are available in Manufacturing Process Engineering, Application Engineering, Process Control, Model Performance Analytics subject to business needs and applicant interest.
  • Position is based in Kuala Lumpur.
What you will do
Manufacturing Process Engineer
  • Act as an integral member of the site technical team, delivering high‑frequency and long‑term process unit monitoring and analysis for ExxonMobil’s global manufacturing facilities.
  • Utilize advanced analytical tools (e.g., data analytics, process simulation) to uncover technical insights, troubleshoot issues, recommend improvements, and drive optimization opportunities.
  • Lead or support initiatives focused on energy efficiency, yield improvement, cost reduction, and sustainability.
  • Perform high‑level business stewardship activities, including energy utilization analysis, material balance assessments, benchmarking, and identification of unit improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, maintenance, and business teams to implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Gain exposure to a diverse portfolio across ExxonMobil’s global assets and technology network by working alongside experienced professionals to support projects and solve complex engineering challenges.
Manufacturing Application / Process Control Engineer
  • Design, develop and implement basic regulatory and advanced control applications.
  • Improve abnormal event detection capability and alarm management.
  • Provide technical support to refineries, chemical plants, and upstream facilities on base advanced control applications.
  • Leverage digital tools and analytics to modernize control systems and contribute to ExxonMobil’s broader digital transformation initiatives.
Model Performance Analytics
  • Develop, deploy, and sustain tools used for PIMS model validation globally.
  • Perform validation analysis of PIMS sub‑model health together with manufacturing site technical team.
  • Utilize techniques and tools to produce fit for purpose high‑quality models.
Environmental Engineer
  • Provide support to a diverse set of assets and projects globally.
  • Focus on air emissions equipment control technology surveillance, estimation and reporting of GHG and other air pollutants emissions.
  • Water treatment and reuse engineering support and wastewater and solids management engineering support for complex treatment facilities.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Excellent academic track record.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience encouraged.
  • Ability to work in a multi‑cultural global team.
