An international manufacturing company in Penang is seeking a Buyer Direct to manage procurement strategies and supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in procurement, particularly in electronics. This role will involve inventory management and ensuring timely material execution to meet customer expectations.
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Buyer Direct located in Prai, Penang.
Responsible for the development, execution and pricing of procurement risk strategies for Flex (focus on Electrical commodities).
Maintaining relations with the suppliers.
Placing orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to the requirements of the production.
Receiving and handling the confirmations.
Checking the purchase orders and modifying them according to the changes in the production plan with the help of the Shortage List and the Open Purchase Order List.
Tracking shipments, urging them if needed.
Regular, weekly check of the stocks, avoiding overstock.
Minimizing the risk of obsolescence with the help of the weekly check of the obsolete report.
Correspondence with the freight forwarders, warehouses, and in case organizing the transportation.
Dealing with claims, settling debit and credit issues.
Filing and recording all necessary documents.
Checking the inventory of critical materials (personally if needed) according to the Shortage List.
Getting in touch with the right warehouse personnel and having the discrepancy modified if there is any inventory discrepancies.
Assuring all active components according to production needs, in time, for the accord price in the request.
Reviews requisitions and MRP output.
Confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
Orders, reschedules and cancels material based on requisitions and MRP output.
Maintains procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery and inventories.
Manages supplier to price, delivery and quality expectations and escalates when appropriate.
Approves invoices for payment.
Investigation inventory levels.
Monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle.
Maintains procurement records, reports and metrics.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 2-4 years of procurement experience.
Preferably with experience in materials or a related field.
Background in electronics manufacturing is an advantage.
Meet ITO and FOL objectives.
Ensure smooth material execution with due diligence—zero customer escalations on shortages, and effective management of EOL and constraint parts to support demand plans and close CTB gaps.
Meet or exceed customer service expectations, achieving a supply chain scorecard > 4.0/5.0.
Manage material shortages efficiently to fulfill customer upsides with prompt response and zero escalations.
Coordinate E&O disposition and support internal and customer audits with full compliance.
Provide prompt responses to customer requests and ensure timely report submissions.
Meet customer traceability requirements and ROHS conversion plans.
Support organizational change initiatives in line with business needs and requirements.
