Business Development Specialist (Engineering)
To identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities in engineering-based infrastructure projects, leveraging strong technical knowledge and sales engineering expertise. The role focuses on driving revenue growth through client acquisition, project sourcing, tender participation, and solution-based selling across civil, mechanical, and infrastructure-related works, while acting as a bridge between technical teams and clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Market Development & Technical Sales: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in engineering, construction, infrastructure, and related technical projects.
- Act as a Sales Engineer, providing technical input and solution proposals aligned with client requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, consultants, contractors, government agencies, and corporate clients.
- Prepare and present technical-commercial proposals, cost estimates, and value-engineered solutions.
- Manage the end-to-end business development cycle, from lead generation, technical clarification, proposal submission, to deal closure.
- Support tender submissions, RFQs, and RFPs, including technical documentation, pricing, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor and report sales pipeline, project status, and revenue forecasts to management.
- Engineering & Strategic Coordination: Work closely with engineering, project, procurement, and finance teams to ensure feasibility, accuracy, and competitiveness of proposals.
- Assist in identifying strategic growth areas such as infrastructure development, engineering services expansion, and long-term framework contracts.
- Contribute to go-to-market strategies for new engineering services or solutions.
- Conduct market research on engineering trends, construction costs, materials, and competitor positioning.
- Provide insights on pricing strategies, project risks, cost structures, and margin optimization.
- Track regulatory requirements, standards, and compliance relevant to engineering projects.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for key engineering clients and partners.
- Coordinate internal teams to ensure timely technical responses, site visits, and proposal delivery.
- Maintain long-term client relationships and support repeat or follow-on projects.
Job Requirements
Education / Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ or Quantity Surveying (QS).
- Additional qualifications in Business, Project Management, or Sales are an added advantage.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in business development, sales engineering, or technical sales, preferably in engineering, construction, infrastructure, mechanical or civil works.
- Strong exposure to tendering processes, costing, BOQ, and project-based sales is highly preferred.
- Strong technical understanding combined with commercial acumen.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate engineering concepts into business solutions.
- Strategic, results-driven, and comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
