Job description
Summary :

Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and working in collaboration with Shipping 3rd party agent, the Business Development Specialist/ Business Partner will be responsible of expanding CMA CGM’s presence in East Malaysia by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, establishing new accounts and promoting services to customers.

This role plays a strategic and high-impact function, requiring a self-directed individual with strong analytical and decision-making capabilities. The position operates with high autonomy, addressing complex, multi-dimensional challenges and driving growth across multiple business verticals within the CMA CGM Group in East Malaysia

Job Description :
1) Commercial Development
  • Independently identify and evaluate market opportunities to develop CMA CGM’s market share, aligned with broader commercial strategies.
  • Build and manage strategic client relationships to drive commercial growth, including cross-selling of Group products (Trade, VAS, Intermodal, CEVA, eCommerce).
  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc market analysis, including budget achievement, market share, and customer trends, to support strategic decision-making at the management level.
  • Exercise judgment in prioritizing commercial initiatives based on return on investment, risk, and alignment with group objectives.
2) Business Development
  • Lead feasibility studies and develop proposals for maritime service expansion in East Malaysia, involving cross-functional coordination with internal departments.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to initiate and negotiate corporate partnerships that deliver long-term strategic value.
  • Independently assess and propose new opportunities across intermodal, VAS, CEVA, and eCommerce activities by conducting infrastructure and market viability studies.
  • Represent the company at conferences and customer events to increase brand visibility and provide market intelligence, translating insights into actionable strategies.
3)Third Party Agency Network Management (AML)
  • Oversee and strategically manage AML agency performance in Sabah and Sarawak, including sales targets and customer service standards.
  • Provide analytical reporting on logistics equipment and terminal operations to inform management and proactively resolve operational issues.
4) Institutional and Strategic network
  • Develop and strengthen institutional relationships, ensuring CMA CGM's presence and influence with local authorities.
  • Establish and maintain a strategic stakeholder network, involving third-party forwarders, depots, terminals, potential investors, government entities, and key industry players to facilitate complex collaboration efforts and position the Group as a key market leader.
Job Requirement :
  • Diploma or Degree in any discipline, with at least 5 years of experience in a sales role within the shipping or logistics industry.
  • Strong leadership, management, and commercial skills, with the ability to work independently, drive initiatives, and engage key stakeholders effectively.
  • Highly motivated and result-oriented, with strong analytical abilities.
  • Able to produce high-quality reports and provide timely inputs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Willing to travel and possess own transport.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
