Raffles Prep Academy invites applications for the position of Boarding Assistant, a full-time, residential role dedicated to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students living in the Prep boarding community. We are seeking caring, responsible, and energetic individuals who are passionate about student wellbeing and committed to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing boarding environment.
The Boarding Assistant works closely with the Director of Boarding and the boarding team to ensure smooth daily operations, strong pastoral care, and an enriching boarding experience for all students.
Key Responsibilities
Boarding House Care & Supervision
- Provide daily supervision of boarders according to the duty roster (mornings, evenings, weekends).
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and emotional welfare of all boarding students.
- Maintain full supervision of the House at all times and report any safety issues promptly.
- Monitor student attendance, routines, behaviour, and overall development.
- Enforce the House Rules and Code of Conduct consistently and fairly.
Pastoral Care & Student Support
- Provide strong pastoral care and emotional support for boys living away from home.
- Prepare pastoral reports in conjunction with the Director of Boarding.
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and wellbeing.
- Liaise with teachers, counsellors, and academic staff when student issues arise.
- Support students’ domestic needs, including laundry routines, room tidiness, and personal organization.
Academic Support & Study Supervision
- Supervise Evening Study Hall sessions and ensure a productive study environment.
- Provide individual or small-group tutoring (language acquisition & homework support).
- Arrange tutoring for students needing additional academic assistance and manage the tutor roster.
- Follow up on students’ CCA participation and enforce the boarding policy.
- Monitor student academic performance and liaise with teachers to support struggling students.
Boarding Operations & Administration
- Assist with meal arrangements, logistics, and boarding routines.
- Supervise students during free time and ensure correct sign-in/out procedures.
- Participate in boarders’ recreational activities and coordinate equipment (with Head of Boarding).
- Assist with transportation duties for boarding activities or outings.
- Attend weekly meetings and all required boarding community events.
- Prepare dormitory allocations and ensure all students understand House Rules.
- Support the Director of Boarding in all operational aspects of boarding life.
Community Engagement
- Foster a warm, supportive, and inclusive boarding culture.
- Encourage students to participate actively in school and boarding activities.
- Work collaboratively with the boarding team to provide high-quality, holistic care.
