Job summary

A renewable energy company in Malaysia is seeking a technical support engineer for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. Responsibilities include project execution support, design assessment, and liaising with clients and vendors. Candidates should hold an engineering degree, preferably in Electrical engineering, and have over 2 years of experience in BESS. Familiarity with AutoCAD and BESS sizing tools is advantageous. The role is mainly office-based with site support as needed.

• More than 2 years of working experience in BESS project.
• Able to interpret BESS requirement and propose optimal BESS size.
• Basic knowledge to use MS Office, PDF.

Job description

To provide Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) technical support to business development (BD) and project execution by provide or review technical proposal and other deliverable to ensure the technical conformance & compliance is met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support project team in BESS project execution.
• Prepare or review shopdrawing and design calculation report such as cable sizing and etc
• Liaise with consultant or authority in approval of design.
• Provide technical support and advice on design and engineering to project team
• Assist project team with technical advice to installation team.
• Liaise with SCADA and BMS vendor about dispatch requirement.
• Support Business Development team in tender or proposal submission with BESS package
• Perform technical assessment according to BESS application.
• Optimise BESS package sizing for better costing and technical compliances.
• Prepare tender documents for submission.
• Prepare and proposal for lifespan management/augmentation plan according to project requirement.
• Prepare design and datasheet for PSS study.
• Assist in procurement process.
• Prepare BoQ and specification of BESS package for procurement sourcing.
• Review quotation and pricelist from contractor or vendor and provide technical analysis to procurement.
• Support construction team during project execution phase.
• Attend to testing and commissioning (FAT, SAT and etc).
• Provide feedback in QC process.
• Review shopdrawing/ proposal from contractor or vendor and provide comment according to authority requirement and local/international standard.
• Evaluate performance of contractor in term of design and installation as part of quality control process.
• Provide support for BESS proposal or project at other region.
• Attend to BESS package technical issue when required.
• Liaise with other team for feedback in design and costing for continuous improvement.
• Advise on authority requirements for BESS sizing and installation.
• Evaluate BESS products and supplier.
• Review shopdrawing with interfacing with BESS package.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering field, Electrical engineering preferred.
• More than 2 years of working experience in BESS project.
• Able to interpret BESS requirement and propose optimal BESS size.
• Reading and understanding engineering drawing.
• Basic knowledge to use MS Office, PDF.
• Familiar to Autocad.
• Understand in BESS technology.
• Familiarity to BESS sizing tools such as HOMER Pro will be advantage.

• 90% in office setting, 10% on site, might required to support on site
