RCR Consulting is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Remote Benefits & Payroll Support Specialist to provide high-quality administrative and operational support to our virtual HR consulting team. This role will focus on payroll processing, auditing client accounts, and assisting with benefits administration for multiple clients across diverse industries.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, fully remote environment while maintaining excellent communication with both internal teams and clients. This position is fully remote and you can reside in any geographic location but you must be able to work during standard U.S. business hours.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
  • Support the HR consulting team in processing weekly, biweekly and monthly payrolls for multiple client organizations
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of employee hours, deductions, and tax withholdings
  • Verify payroll data and resolve discrepancies in coordination with clients and payroll providers
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with all payroll-related regulations
Account Auditing & Reconciliation
  • Audit payroll and benefits accounts for accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare reports and summaries highlighting discrepancies, adjustments, or recommendations
  • Collaborate with consultants to ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with HR and financial policies
Benefits Administration
  • Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations in client systems
  • Communicate with insurance carriers and benefit vendors to resolve employee inquiries and issues
  • Track eligibility, coverage changes, and open enrollment activities
Administrative Support
  • Maintain organized digital records and databases for client HR and payroll information
  • Prepare HR and payroll documentation, reports, and summaries for client review
  • Provide general administrative support to consulting staff, including scheduling, data entry, and client correspondence
Qualifications
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in HR, payroll processing, or benefits administration (multi-client or consulting environment preferred)
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, QuickBooks Payroll, Gusto, or similar)
    • Strong Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace skills
    • Familiarity with HRIS and benefits platforms
  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of U.S. payroll laws, benefits regulations, and compliance requirements
    • Experience with auditing and reporting best practices
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and organization
    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a remote work environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting HR consulting or professional services teams
  • Basic understanding of accounting or finance principles
  • Certification such as FPC, CPP, or SHRM-CP (a plus but not required)
Work Schedule
  • Fully remote position; you can reside in any geographic location but must be available to work during standard U.S. business hours (Eastern or Central Time preferred)
  • Hourly Rate: $5-$10 per hour
