Job summary

BJAK Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to help power the AI Finance Agent. You will build core backend systems, APIs and workflows designed to scale across markets and millions of users, as BJAK expands in Southeast Asia.

You will collaborate with product and mobile teams to ship customer journeys quickly, integrate with banks and payment gateways, and harden systems for security, reliability and observability in regulated financial products.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging.
• Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
• Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases.
• Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk.
• Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams.
• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products is a strong advantage.

The Role

We are looking for backend engineers to build the core systems behind BJAK's AI Finance Agent.

This role is for engineers who can build reliable APIs, workflows and financial product infrastructure that can scale across markets, partners and millions of users.

What You'll Own

• Build backend services, APIs and workflows for the AI Neobank app.
• Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel and financial services.
• Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations.
• Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly.

Location

This role is based in Malaysia. This is a hybrid role. You are expected to work from our Malaysia office at least 3 days per week.

Language

English is our main working language across global teams. Strong English communication is required.
