Job Description

The Backend Engineering team is the foundation of the Digital Engineering team, specializing in Javascript stacks and PHP seamlessly deployed on AWS infrastructure. They build and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems that power CelcomDigi’s digital services, working closely with Digital Architects, Product Owners, and other engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Development and Maintenance: Design and maintain backend systems using PHP, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Architect and optimize AWS services, focusing on cost-efficiency and security.
• API Development: Create RESTful APIs to enable seamless integration between frontend and backend systems.
• Collaboration: Work with Digital Architects and Frontend Engineering for cohesive end-to-end solutions.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Identify bottlenecks and resolve issues to ensure system uptime.
• Innovation: Explore emerging technologies to enhance backend capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 –8 years of hands-on experience in backend development, preferably in high-traffic or large-scale digital platforms.
• Strong proficiency in PHP and modern backend frameworks (e.g., Laravel), as well as JavaScript / Node.js for building backend services.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and integrating with frontend and third-party systems.
• Practical experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch), including deployment, monitoring, and cost optimization.
• Good understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and data modeling best practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting production systems to ensure reliability and performance.
• Solid knowledge of security best practices for backend systems, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Product Owners, Digital Architects, and Frontend Engineers in an agile environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
