Job summary

Sonata Software North America Inc. is seeking a Senior Azure IaaS Cloud Architect with strong Azure Networking and SAP on Azure IaaS experience. The role focuses on secure, high-performance SAP workloads on Azure with cost-aware architecture and robust HA/DR design.

The candidate will define enterprise networking, lead migrations, and implement FinOps across SAP landscapes while automating deployments and landing zones. Remote-based in Malaysia with global collaboration.

Job Title: Azure Infrastructure Customer Engineer

Location: Remote (within Malaysia)

We are seeking a Senior Azure IaaS Cloud Architect with Azure Networking as the primary skill , complemented by deep SAP on Azure IaaS experience and strong FinOps discipline . This role owns the network‑first, cost‑aware infrastructure architecture for SAP workloads on Azure, ensuring secure, high‑performance, highly available, and financially optimized Azure environments. The architect will design enterprise Azure networking , lead SAP migrations to Azure IaaS , and apply FinOps principles to control and optimize infrastructure spend across SAP landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Networking Responsibilities

• Architect enterprise Azure networking including: Hub and spoke topology, Virtual WAN (where applicable)
• Design SAP optimized Azure network architectures: VNet and subnet design per SAP tier, Latency, throughput, MTU, and routing considerations, SAP inter-tier communication flows
• Lead hybrid connectivity architecture: ExpressRoute (mandatory), Site-to-Site VPN
• Design and govern NSGs, UDRs, Azure Firewall and/or NVAs.
• Architect secure ingress/egress using Azure Load Balancer and Application Gateway (WAF).
• Define DNS, routing and traffic flow strategies.
• Ensure networking aligns with Zero Trust, enterprise security and SAP certification requirements.

Azure IaaS Architecture

• Architect enterprise-scale Azure IaaS platforms for SAP workloads.
• Design SAP-certified Azure VMs, Premium/Ultra Disks, Availability Sets and Zones.
• Own sizing, capacity planning and SAP HANA performance tuning.
• Define Linux/Windows standards for SAP.
• Design HA/DR infrastructure meeting RTO/RPO targets.

SAP on Azure IaaS

• Lead SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA migrations.
• Architect ASCS/ERS HA, HANA scale-up/scale-out and cross-region resilience.
• Design DR using Azure Site Recovery.
• Support cutover, go-live and stabilization.

Azure Landing Zones

• Design Azure Landing Zones with network‑first and cost‑aware approach.
• Define Management Groups, Subscription hierarchy and Shared Services.
• Build SAP‑ready landing zones with network isolation and hybrid integration.

FinOps & Cost Optimization

• Embed FinOps principles into Azure architecture.
• Optimize storage tiers, networking costs and VM sizing.
• Implement tagging standards and cost allocation.
• Use Azure Cost Management for monitoring, forecasting and optimization.

Infrastructure Automation

• Automate deployments using Terraform (preferred), ARM and Bicep.
• Build Azure DevOps pipelines for landing zones, networking and SAP infrastructure.
