About the role

Join our growing team at Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad as an AVP/VP, Data Governance in this full‑time role based in Kuala Lumpur. You will drive the bank’s data governance strategy, ensuring the effective management and oversight of our critical data assets.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of robust data governance frameworks, policies and standards.
• Oversee the data stewardship program, defining roles, responsibilities and accountabilities for data management.
• Develop and deliver data quality assurance processes to monitor, measure and improve data quality.
• Implement and manage data cataloguing, metadata management and data lineage initiatives.
• Partner with business units and IT to ensure data‑related risks are identified, assessed and mitigated.
• Foster a data‑driven culture through training, awareness and change management activities.
• Provide expert advice and consultative support to senior stakeholders on data‑related matters.

What we’re looking for

• 8+ years of experience in data governance, data management or a related field, ideally within the banking or financial services sector.
• Solid understanding of data governance principles, frameworks and industry best practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills to drive adoption of data governance initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to identify and resolve complex data issues.
• Proficiency in data modelling, data lineage, metadata management and data quality assurance.
• Proven track record of leading and delivering successful data governance programs.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in computer science, business analytics or a related discipline.
