Job summary

Altera in Penang, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior QMS Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System for automotive, aerospace, and related regulated markets.

The role focuses on applying IATF 16949, AIAG Core Tools, FMEA, and calibration/measurement-system controls, translating requirements into practical QMS processes across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams in a global context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years in Quality Management Systems, automotive or semiconductor quality.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
• Experience with AIAG Core Tools including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and Control Plans.
• Experience with calibration, measurement equipment, and traceability.
• Ability to interpret industry requirements and translate into processes.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and English communication.

Responsibilities

• Serve as QMS SME for automotive quality requirements and enhance the QMS framework.
• Deploy automotive standards and methodologies (IATF 16949, AIAG Core Tools, VDA).
• Establish scalable processes, evidence, and governance for FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, and control plans.
• Translate requirements into procedures, workflows, and templates for multiple functions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product, Test Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality.
• Support audits, gaps, corrective actions, and external assessments.
• Provide QMS support for ADG and other regulated initiatives.
• Mentor teams on automotive quality systems and AIAG methodologies.
