Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking an automotive technician to diagnose drivability issues at our Penang workshop. You will use scan tools, multimeters, and testing gear to identify root causes and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, suspensions, and brakes.

You will also conduct preventive maintenance, follow service manuals and wiring diagrams, and document repair steps clearly. Safety and organization in the shop are essential to ensure quality service.

Qualifications

• Diagnose vehicle drivability problems using scan tools and manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance and document findings.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose Vehicle Malfunctions: Utilize electronic scan tools, electrical multimeters, and mechanical testing equipment to pinpoint the root cause of vehicle drivability issues, warning lights, or abnormal noises.
• Execute Mechanical Repairs: Repair or replace essential automotive components including engines, automatic/manual transmissions, suspension systems, steering linkages, braking systems, and climate control units.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine service operations such as oil and filter changes, tire balancing and rotations, fluid flushes, wheel alignments, and comprehensive multi-point safety inspections.
• Interpret Technical Documentation: Read and apply information from factory service manuals, technical service bulletins (TSBs), and electrical wiring diagrams to ensure precision repairs.
• Maintain Service Documentation: Document clear, detailed summaries of diagnostic findings, parts required, and repair steps taken on digital or paper repair orders.
• Shop Safety and Organization: Keep work bays clean, safely operate vehicle lifts, properly dispose of hazardous fluids, and maintain personal and shop-owned tools.
