Qualifications
  • Understands processes and has a basic understanding of various manufacturing techniques
  • Basic knowledge of engineering theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques
  • Experience with automation or control systems
Education Requirements

Technical Certificate, Diploma of mold, machinery or equivalent preferred; or more than 5 years of injection molding related experience or related training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Design, program, and integrate automation systems including robotics, conveyors, and vision systems for injection molding production lines.
  • Develop and optimize end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) for part handling, assembly, and packaging applications.
  • Collaborate with molding engineers, process technicians, and maintenance teams to identify automation opportunities and improve production throughput.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, 6-axis robot arm, etc.).
  • Ensure automation systems comply with safety standards and perform risk assessments for new equipment.
  • Support new tooling and mold qualifications with automation integration.
  • Maintain detailed documentation including electrical schematics, machine programs, and maintenance manuals.
  • Train production and maintenance personnel on automated equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Manage automation-related projects from concept to implementation, including cost estimation and supplier coordination.
