Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a junior auditor to support the audit team in planning and executing statutory audits for SME clients across industries. The role will be tailored to your experience and aimed at progressively building audit skills and client-handling ability.

Responsibilities include planning, testing, vouching, and preparing working papers, with travel to client sites required. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply and may pursue ACCA/ICAEW/CPA qualifications.

This role supports the audit team in planning and executing statutory audit and assurance engagements for a portfolio of SME clients across various industries. The scope of responsibility and level of supervision will be calibrated according to the candidate's experience and demonstrated competency, with the role designed to progressively build audit skills, technical knowledge, and client-handling ability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in planning and carrying out statutory audit assignments in accordance with approved auditing standards and firm methodology.
  • Perform audit testing on assigned areas (e.g., cash, receivables, payables, inventory, fixed assets, revenue, payroll, expenses).
  • Vouch, trace, and verify transactions against supporting documents and accounting records.
  • Perform analytical review procedures and follow up on unusual variances or exceptions.
  • Prepare clear, well-organised audit working papers and supporting schedules.
  • Document audit findings, exceptions, and conclusions for review by seniors.
  • Ensure working papers are properly referenced and comply with firm quality control standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of draft audited financial statements and notes to the financial statements.
  • Cross-check consistency between financial statements, working papers, and underlying client records.
  • Liaise professionally with client personnel to obtain records, explanations, and supporting documents required for audit fieldwork.
  • Willing and able to travel to client sites for fieldwork.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 0–2 years of relevant audit experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates pursuing or holding a professional qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, CPA, MICPA, etc.) will have an added advantage.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with audit software is an advantage.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Practical experience in using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve work efficiency, productivity, and the quality of deliverables.
  • Understanding of AI-related confidentiality, data privacy, information security, and responsible-use principles, particularly when handling company or employee information.
