Dyson Institute in Malaysia seeks a senior technical leader to shape robust designs and engineering standards for digital motors and battery management systems, leading power electronics across multiple projects and product categories.
You will define platform architecture, drive design reviews, mentor engineers, collaborate with global teams, and ensure safety, reliability, and manufacturability while advancing Dyson's innovation culture.
The Electrical Power Systems group is a global and multidisciplinary team responsible for the development of the driver of Dyson Digital Motors and Lithium-Ion battery management. Dyson Digital Motors are small and light, yet extremely powerful; they power the next generation of handheld vacuum cleaners as well as the Supersonic which is revolutionizing the beauty category. Dyson battery management systems provide the high-power energy sources required to power the category leading cord free, beauty and robot products. As part of this group, we are looking to expand our Power Electronics capability in SEA.
We are looking for a senior technical leader who can shape robust designs, raise engineering standards, and influence future product and technology roadmaps in the development of the digital motors and battery management system. A recognized technical expert who can provide technical leadership for power electronics and battery management system design across multiple projects and product categories including battery pack integration, charging system, protection architecture, ensuring delivery of safe, reliable, and high-performance solutions. Own, steer and defining the technical direction for power electronics content, including platform architecture, design reviews, risk management, validation strategy, and production-intent delivery. Lead the development and implementation of robust BMS, motor drive, inverter, SMPS, and power conversion solutions that meet global product, safety, EMC/EMI, reliability, compliance and quality requirements. Act as a subject matter expert across the business, providing authoritative guidance on power device selection, circuit topology, thermal performance, protection strategy, system integration, and design trade-offs. Identify, assess, and resolve complex technical risks early in the product lifecycle, using structured engineering judgement, data-driven analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. Define, develop and promote best practices, design standards, technical guidelines, and engineering processes to improve consistency, quality, efficiency, and reuse across global teams. Able to influence technical direction, engineering standards, and key architecture decisions across the organization. Support and contribute to platforming and architecture development for future BMS and power electronics solutions, enabling scalable designs, shorter development cycles, improved cost competitiveness, and stronger safety governance. Partner with global engineering teams, project leaders, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, safety, test, and compliance teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable, reliable, and ready for launch. Lead technical reviews and communicate complex engineering topics clearly to engineers, project stakeholders, and senior management to support effective decision-making. Mentor, coach, and develop engineers within the team and wider organization, strengthening technical capability, engineering discipline, and knowledge sharing. Drive continuous improvement in tools, methods, standards, simulation, verification, validation, and design documentation across SEA and global locations.
