Associate Director, Financial Accounting and Treasury

About the role

The Associate Director of Finance will oversee the financial operations and strategic planning of the organization, guiding the finance team, collaborating with cross‑functional departments, and contributing to the overall financial health and growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the finance team, including financial managers, analysts, and other professionals.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Drive the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads and senior management.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support key business decisions, investments, and cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital and capital expenditure to optimize financial resources.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to internal stakeholders, executive leadership and external parties as required.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Evaluate and enhance financial systems, processes and controls to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in mergers and acquisitions activities, conducting due diligence and providing financial expertise.
  • Lead financial projects, process improvements and automation initiatives to drive operational excellence.
  • Recruit, develop, coach and provide leadership to finance teams in countries assigned.
  • Identify and implement relevant finance training for the up‑skilling and development of direct reports, and establish a competency framework for the finance organization.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions and changes in accounting standards to adapt financial strategies accordingly.
  • Any other ad‑hoc tasks assigned by management.
About you
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field; an MBA would be considered a vital asset.
  • 8‑10 years of finance and managerial experience in the Pharma, FMCG, and Healthcare industries, specifically in finance & accounting; 1‑3 years of leadership capacity as Associate Director.
  • Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA) highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of local and international financial principles, regulations and reporting standards (e.g., US GAAP, SOX, etc).
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to convey financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment and influence decision‑making at the executive level.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Microsoft Excel skill set.
  • Proficient in accounting/finance software, ERP systems; SAP proficiency is preferred.
  • Willing to be based in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.
